We value the well-being of the environment, people and animals. We demand both ourselves and our subcontractors respect the environment and commit to sustainable production methods with us.
ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY
At BYPIAS, we implement our environmental responsibility in all our company's operations. We use natural resources, energy and materials sparingly and efficiently.
PACKAGING AND TRANSPORT MATERIAL
We encourage our e-commerce customers to order e-commerce deliveries for collection from our stores. This gives customers the opportunity to try on clothes before making a final decision. This has reduced the return rate of products, as well as the carbon footprint of mailing products.
In stores, we pack products in paper bags made from renewable or recyclable materials, which are protected with protective paper made from renewable or recyclable materials.
WASTE
We aim to continuously reduce the amount of waste we generate and the environmental impact it causes.
- Our accounting is completely paperless
- We reuse textile cutting waste from production to produce hair donuts and other small products.
CARE
We encourage our customers in every way possible to contribute to sustainability and reduce their environmental impact, for example by extending the life of their clothes by maintaining and washing them according to the care instructions. On our website you will find material declarations and detailed care instructions for our products. Consumers can also reduce the environmental impact of the clothes they buy by using eco-labelled and phosphate-free detergents and avoiding the use of tumble dryers.
RE-USE ja RETURN
We maintain a BYPIAS Second Hand Facebook group, where consumers can recycle BYPIAS clothes they no longer wear or buy recycled clothes for themselves. The group already has over 30 000 members.
RESPONSIBLE PRODUCTION CHAIN
BYPIAS production is sustainable and responsible across the board. This means that manufacturers do not use chemicals that are harmful to the environment and that their working conditions are safe and their workers' rights are respected.
We have long and lasting working relationships with every manufacturer. Linen and bamboo garments in the BYPIAS brand are produced in a small sewing factory in Estonia. We have been working with the Estonian sewing factory since their establishment and this cooperation has continued uninterrupted ever since.
Some seasons, the BYPIAS brand also includes knitwear produced domestically. For BYPIAS accessories, we collaborate with small-scale producers both in Finland and around the world. These products include, for example, basket bags, leather bags, and slippers.
Clothing under the BOHEMIANA brand and knitwear under the BYPIAS brand are mainly produced in Italy. In Italy, we have concentrated our production to a small limited number of northern Italian manufacturers with whom we have long-established working relationships and whose activities are monitored by local production agents. We require our partners to comply with applicable laws and regulations.
MATERIALS
We monitor the origin of materials used in our products, to ensure that our products are produced in accordance with our ecological and ethical principles.
We aim for the smallest possible carbon footprint in our production and use as much certified materials as possible.
BYPIAS LINEN
The linen material used for BYPIAS brand is produced in Lithuania. Linen fibre used to make our linen originates from the EU and is European Flax certified.
The producers involved in the production of our linen products each comply with the legislation of their own country.
BYPIAS BAMBOO
Bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants. It regenerates naturally and does not need replanting. Growing bamboo does not require irrigation, fertilisers or pesticides. The bamboo plant is very efficient at absorbing carbon dioxide and at the same time produces a lot of oxygen. Bamboo fibre breaks down naturally at the end of its lifecycle.
Fabric used for Bypias Bamboo products has OEKO-TEX certificate. Bamboo fabric has a soft silky texture and is naturally antibacterial. The material is breathable and comfortable against the skin, keeping you warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
Other clothing materials
In addition to linen, the materials used in Bohemiana and Perfect Jeans products include mohair, silk, viscose, cotton and their blends with each other and with synthetic fibers such as elastane and polyamide.
Decorative and other brands' products
Our range of interior design products includes old vintage items, wood, cane and bamboo products and furniture, as well as linen, wool and jute textiles. The products are handcrafted in two small, familiar family businesses in India; textiles in one and other furnishing products in the other. Our interior design range also includes products from other companies.
We also sell a carefully and thoughtfully selected range of a few other brands, shoes and accessories. Our resale products, complement our relaxed and harmonious product collection alongside our home decor items.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
At BYPIAS, social responsibility covers our own staff, as well as all the people we affect during the life cycle of our products, from raw materials to finished products, through to their sale and use.
We carefully select the manufacturers of our products to ensure that the working conditions in their production facilities are humane and safe, and that their workers' rights are respected. We encourage our manufacturers and other subcontractors to price their products so that they get a good enough price for their products to guarantee their workers a living wage and other working conditions that meet our ethical guidelines.
We have zero tolerance for child labour and forced labour, do not tolerate illegal overtime and do not compromise on safe working conditions.
All our products are manufactured in factories with which we have a long-standing partnership. This long and lasting relationship makes it easy for us to regularly monitor manufacturers' compliance with the agreed rules that reflect our values. We concentrate our production on a limited number of subcontractors and require all those involved in the manufacture of our products to act in accordance with our values.
At BYPIAS, we offer an open working atmosphere in which every BYPIAS employee has the opportunity to make a difference. We treat our employees equally and our light hierarchy makes communication with our employees easy and effortless.
