This accessibility statement applies to the BYPIAS website (www.bypias.com) and was prepared on March 11, 2025. The statement is based on a technical assessment of the website's accessibility.

Accessibility status

BYPIAS strives to ensure the accessibility of its website as broadly as possible. The site largely complies with the requirements of the Act on the Provision of Digital Services (306/2019) and the EU Accessibility Directive (2016/2102), as well as the WCAG 2.1 A and AA level accessibility criteria.

There are no critical accessibility issues on the site, but some areas for improvement have been identified and are being addressed. The accessibility of the website is continuously evaluated using accessibility tools, and accessibility is taken into account in the development of all new features. Additionally, ongoing improvements are made to the website's maintenance to ensure that content and services are as accessible as possible to all users.

The key accessibility issues of the site are described in more detail below.

Non-accessible content

The following accessibility issues have been identified on the BYPIAS website:

Contrast issues (WCAG 1.4.3)

The contrast between some text and background colors does not meet the minimum requirements, which may make reading difficult, especially for visually impaired users.

Errors in heading hierarchy (WCAG 1.3.1)

Some pages contain an illogical heading structure (e.g., an h4 heading appearing before an h2), which may make navigation more difficult for screen reader users.

Links (WCAG 2.4.4)

Not all links are clearly identifiable or sufficiently descriptive of their target.

Inconsistencies in landmark elements (WCAG 1.3.1, 4.1.2)

Several areas on the site contain landmark roles (e.g., navigation, main content) that are either not unique or are missing.

Empty headings (WCAG 2.4.6)

Some pages contain empty headings, which may cause challenges for screen reader users.

Incorrect ARIA attributes (WCAG 4.1.2)

Some user interface elements contain incorrect ARIA attributes, which may negatively impact accessibility.

Content not accessible due to disproportionate burden

A large number of product images and visual content are published annually on the BYPIAS online store. We strive to ensure that all images include sufficient accessibility information, such as alternative text descriptions (alt-texts).

However, due to the high volume of images and the continuously updating product selection, we are unable to guarantee that all images are immediately available in an accessible format. This limitation is based on disproportionate burden, but we are actively working to improve accessibility and regularly add alternative text descriptions.

If you need more information about a specific product or image, you can contact our customer service.

Accessibility enhancement tool

The BYPIAS website features an accessibility settings tool, which allows users to customize the appearance and functionality of the site to meet their needs. With this tool, users can:

  • Adjust text size and contrast
  • Modify color settings for better visibility
  • Enable content reading and other assistive functions

This tool is designed to support different user needs and enhance website usability for everyone. The tool is available on every page of the site and can be activated easily through the user interface.
