The BYPIAS story began with one simple need: the desire to find a linen garment that was beautiful, high quality, and made to last. When it couldn't be found, the idea was born to create it ourselves.

BYPIAS founder Pia Erlund had spent years searching for clothing made from high-quality, heavier-weight linen. She fell in love with the textured surface of stonewashed linen, the way it drapes beautifully, and how it only becomes softer with wear. She had a vision of the perfect tunic—one that would work just as effortlessly during a busy workday as it would in everyday life.

The very first designs were sewn by a long-time customer from Pia's hair salon, a former professional seamstress. When Pia began wearing the linen tunic at work, clients constantly asked where they could buy one for themselves. Interest grew quickly, and what started as a personal project soon became the foundation for creating clothing for others.

As demand increased, Pia established her own fashion brand and moved production to Tallinn. Since then, every piece in the BYPIAS linen collection has been handcrafted in the very same trusted atelier, produced locally with the same long-standing partner—a collaboration that continues to this day.

From the very beginning, the hallmark of BYPIAS has been premium heavyweight linen. Woven from high-quality Northern European flax, it is sturdier and more substantial than standard linen while maintaining a beautiful drape and a luxurious feel.

Every BYPIAS linen garment is made from 100% pre-washed linen. The pre-washing process gives the fabric exceptional softness from the very first wear, yet one of linen's greatest qualities is that it continues to soften and become even more beautiful year after year. While many fabrics wear out over time, quality linen simply improves.

Linen is also naturally breathable, keeping you cool in summer and warm in winter, making the same garment comfortable throughout every season.

Comfort is never compromised—elasticated waistbands are a signature feature in many trousers, and several styles are available in different leg lengths.

Handcrafted in Tallinn

The BYPIAS linen collection is still made in the very same trusted sewing factory in Tallinn where the first garments were sewn many years ago.

Every piece is individually crafted by skilled seamstresses using traditional atelier techniques. Keeping production close to home allows us to maintain exceptional quality, build lasting partnerships, and manufacture responsibly.
